Cashier's Checks

You may get a Cashier’s Check from East County Schools by calling or texting 619-588-1515, or by visiting an East County Schools Branch.

Funds are deducted from your account at the time the Cashier’s Check is issued. There is no fee for the issuance of a Cashier’s Check to a member with the following exceptions:

  • the check is made payable to a third party*
  • expedited delivery is required, in which case you will be charged for express shipping

We will mail the Cashier’s Check to your home address at no charge through USPS regular mail, upon request.

Sellers or landlords may ask for this kind of payment because it's guaranteed, since the funds are drawn against the bank rather than against your personal account. Providing a Cashier’s Check guarantees that the funds are available and the check will clear, and are therefore sometimes more acceptable to a payee.

*See Cashier's Check fees on our Rate and Fee Schedule.

Identity Theft Warning

Cashier’s Checks/Official Bank Checks have become a popular means for theft in recent years. If you receive this type of check in exchange for payment of cash, you must be wary of its source. These checks can look legitimate, yet they are actually a forgery.

I had a fantastic trip to Switzerland and Austria this past summer with East County Schools FCU and the SD East County Chamber of Commerce. This was my 6th trip with this fun group! The Educator Tour, guided by the infamous Steve Devan, is the perfect way to truly see and experience any country. The train ride through the Alps was a personal favorite and such an amazing experience. Seeing and hearing cows and goats with real bells grazing on the side of the mountains made me want to sing a favorite "Sound of Music" song and look for Heidi or her grandpa around every turn! I really felt immersed in the culture. The extra servings of warm apple strudel helped too!

I am a single traveler and all worries are put aside on these well-coordinated trips. Almost everything is taken care of for the travelers so I always feel spoiled! The fellow Educator Tour travelers that I have met from other districts and other walks of life have become my life-long friends! These trips are so dear to me that I have a separate savings travel account where I dedicate a small monthly amount to be ready for the next country!

    Come join us!
